2019 Junior Championships

The 3rd edition of Swimming Wellington 12 & Under Junior Championships took place over 2 days at Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre in mid-December. In total 279 swimmers entered the Championships with 24 clubs competing. Manawatu, Taranaki, Hawkes Bay, Auckland, Northland and Nelson/Marlborough were all represented, with many swimmers traveling and competing at WRAC for the first time.

   

There were 3 records for PCA's tear away Charlie Dickison in the Freestyle, Butterfly and Backstroke, whilst Suri Sun took broke the oldest record of the weekend, breaking Jordyn Mahanga's 19 year old record in the 200 Freestyle.

Charlie was joined by Vinnie Tat, Felix Thomas and Cameron Wilkinson at the top of their age group points tally and helped Porirua City Aquatics retain the Championship title for the second year running. Ben Walsh, a swimmer who has attended regional meets throughout his age group years, coached a squad of 47 PCA Juniors to a total of 1,843.50 points, over 1,000 points more than SZR in second place.
